3 tips for a successful off-piste trip

3 tips for a successful off-piste trip

After heavy snowfalls, an irresistible urge arises. You know the one of hurtling down virgin slopes, free of obstacles, of having the mountain to yourself, of being free and connected to the elements. The reputation of the Tignes-Val d'Isère ski area is well established. The practice of freeride is almost a religion.

The area offers one of the best freeride spots in the Alps, a large part of which is accessible from the ski lifts. However, off-piste sessions are not to be taken lightly, the mountain remains an unstable natural environment, that's why, here are the 3 tips to make your outing perfect and safe.

Secrets of Tignards: why is spring the locals' favorite season?

Secrets of Tignards: why is spring the locals' favorite season?

There are fans of the Christmas ski holidays. Those who would not imagine a winter holiday other than in the mountains. And then there are the others: lovers of a certain art of living, who prefer to come (back) in the spring to savor a few last descents before putting away their spatulas and taking out their flip-flops… until next winter!

Together, let's protect our mountains

Together, let's protect our mountains

Protecting the environment may sometimes seem abstract when we don’t live close to nature. Holidays, which are essential to our well-being, are also a great opportunity to increase our awareness regarding the need to protect breathtaking landscapes that we are drawn to (even more so in a protected area like the Vanoise National Park). But where to start?

Surprise your better half with our Valentine's Day special guide

There are those who are impatiently awaiting the date, those who don't care, those who tell anyone who will listen that "it's just a commercial party", those who feel a bit blue at the idea of not having plans for two that day, and those who live in a remote cave and have not even noticed that February 14 is fast approaching...

For rent: office with a view!

For rent: office with a view!

Want to change your life? Start by changing your view!

Leave everything behind and move to the other side of the world (or France)? A sweet dream... that few of us are ready to turn into reality! Family, friends, the cosy nest in which we have invested: after all, why leave behind everything we hold dear?

Yet when you look out of your office window, you are sometimes tempted to replace the building opposite with a view of the snow-capped mountains. What if the current context gave you the opportunity to take a small chase instead of a big leap? What if the recommendations in favour of teleworking offered you the long-awaited break from the daily routine without a long-term commitment? Leave the city for a few days, or a few weeks, and turn your office into a natural stage!

He or she said “yes”! 10 words to know to (better) understand your freestyler friends

Like all disciplines, freestyle has its jargon... which is enough to puzzle neophytes! Don't you know whether you should be happy that your best friend has "landed their first 720 air"? When you hear “table” and “reception”, do you think more of a banquet than a snow obstacle? Do you understand absolutely nothing about the commentators of the Olympic Games who rave about the slopestyle, big air or halfpipe events? Here are 10 basic words to remember to be part of the community of freestyle fans!

How are athletes judged at events?

How are athletes judged at events?

During the various sporting events organised in the resort of Tignes, it is always necessary to decide between the competitors. To do this, judges are called upon to give a verdict, to distribute the points and scores which will then allow a ranking to be established and thus to designate the winner of the event. How are the athletes judged? Who are the judges in charge of this shadowy mission that is so crucial to any sporting event? Focus on this job like no other with William Cochet, judge this season on the French Freeride Series event.

Snow and marmots: the unusual challenges behind the preparation of Tignes golf course!

Snow and marmots: the unusual challenges behind the preparation of Tignes golf course!

An 18-hole golf course at an altitude of 2100 m? A slightly crazy challenge set in the late 1960s (creation of the course’s first 9 holes), which became a reality in the early 1990s (the addition of 9 further holes), and which has continued to be met with flying colours every summer since. While the players’ smiles say it all at the end of the course, it’s thanks to a team of enthusiasts who roll up their sleeves every spring to breathe life into the highest 18-hole course in Europe after a snowy winter! A huge challenge, quite different to the everyday life of golf courses in the valley.
